FIRST SHORT FILM CONTEST

INDEPENDENT FILMAKERS INVITED TO SUBMIT FILMS

The American Society of Independent Filmmakers (ASIF) is inviting producers and directors to submit their short films for consideration in the first annual ASIF Short Film Competition.

The films selected will be entered in National and International Film Festivals, with entry fees supplied by ASIF. If the films qualify to be presented at the designated festival, ASIF will then underwrite the filmmakers trip to the event and cover expenses.

The American Society of Independent Filmmakers is a new organization whose ultimate goal is to provide a broad range of support to independent filmmakers in all aspects of production. From conceptualizing to distribution, ASIF hopes to make available the needed resources to assist in the completion of independent projects.

The Short Film Competition will provide both advice and financial support to aid the winning filmmakers in the process of selecting, entering and eventually attending a major film festival. “Short films are a filmmaker’s first calling card,” explains ASIF President Ariel Santiago, “ A short is the way for new artists to be exposed to the international film community, and we hope to provide the needed expertise to maximize the exposure of both the film and the filmmaker at the appropriate Film Festivals.”

The Competition will be divided into three categories: Comedy, Drama and Documentary. A film will be selected from each, and then entered in one of the major film festivals. If the short film qualifies, ASIF will make arrangement for the filmmaker to attend the selected festival. ASIF will utilize the expertise of area filmmakers and festival experts in choosing both the winners and the best festival for each film to enter.

The American Society of Independent Filmmakers has as its goal to supply the best expertise available from a network of area advisors, and to match filmmakers with the appropriate mentors to develop, produce and release their projects. “We have a lot of talented people in our area, and it is the purpose of our organization to put all this power to work, and by helping each other, the Orlando area will become a haven for great, creative, independent movie production.”

ASIF is a non profit organization.
